Review:

I like B Movie style horror or the straight to TV/DVD type. They are always low budget and sometimes cringe inducing. Yet they are sometimes enjoyable. They are made for fun and don’t have to worry about making millions of dollars. The other half of the coin is that you will find some movies that are really bad. And I mean shut off and toss the DVD away bad. So where does Wolf Town fit in this? Well it goes in the middle for me.

Yes the DVD cover in misleading. It looked like it would have been an awesome killer animal flick. It did involve killer wolves, but far from awesome. Wolf Town focuses on a group of four college students trapped in a ghost town by a vengeful pack of wolves. Now the way the foursome are trapped is rather ridiculous. The wolves bite and rip apart the exact wires needed to start Kyle’s car. Oh and all the old wooden buildings do not have any type weapon or farm tool that the group could use to fight off the wolves. Really? You could grab a piece of wood for a club (which was done to kill one wolf) and used repeatedly to escape? I mean the club is a “one and done”? Oh but old dynamite sticks will do the job perfectly. Right.

The cast itself was pretty decent. Max Adler (Ben) from Glee did a good job although he was killed off pretty quickly. The standout to me was Levi Fiehler (Kyle). He was given a fleshed out character to work with and did a great job. Kyle was the shy kid trying to show and tell his love to Jess (Alicia Zeigler). Yet never had the courage to say anything and now she brought a boyfriend, Rob (Josh Kelly), so he shy’s away even more. We also see him get seriously and believably terrified of the wolves. We learn that he was attacked by a large dog years ago and never fully recovered mentally from it. So that plays a big factor throughout the film.

The kills are exactly what you expect with this type of movie. The wolf attacks are comprised of the wolves playing and licking the cast. Or the wolves obviously attacking a life sized doll with meat and food attached to it.

Final Thoughts:

Do not be fooled by the DVD cover it is misleading. Although it wasn’t a horrible movie Wolf Town should be seen if you have nothing else better to watch or you like seeing B-Movies of this caliber. Levi Fiehler is the only redeeming part of the movie. Did a great job with what he was given.
