The Walking Dead - Small Screen/Horror Spot Review
The Walking Dead - Small Screen/Horror Spot Review
Episode One - What Lies Ahead
We start off with a small recap of the past season through Rick talking into the walkie talkie. The group heads to Fort Benning, but are blocked by a pileup of abandoned vehicles on the interstate, and are delayed when the RV blows a radiator hose. Our group then search among the cars looking for supplies and replacement parts for the RV. Within minutes a lone zombie walker is spotted but it is not alone. A large herd of roaming zombies pass the survivors. The group narrowly avoids the herd of walkers passing through without much damage. Except for a close call when T Dog gets a deep and bloody cut that Daryl helps him with and Andrea almost killed by a nosy walker. But then Sophia is discovered by zombie walkers and chased into the woods.
Rick distracts and kills her pursuing walkers, but she goes missing in the process. During a search party for Sophia, the group stops to search a rural church. A depressed Andrea expresses resentment towards Dale for saving her from the CDC explosion, while Shane decides to leave the group when he has the chance. While still at the church, Andrea privately asks Shane if she can join him when he leaves the group. As the search continues, Rick, Shane and Carl discover a young buck; as Carl approaches the animal a gunshot from an unseen person strikes them both.
Pretty great start for the season two premiere. Kind of wished we had a bit more zombie action but what we got was more than enough. Like the previous season the perfect blend of drama, action, thrills, zombies, and kills continues. And that ending. Good lord what a cliffhanger.
