Small Screen: Walking Dead Season 2 Premiere

--Robert Acosta

"What Lies Ahead"

Walking Dead was the biggest hit of last year, of any new show or any show that has been running for years. In the matter of 6 episodes, they took the world by storm, making this upcoming season one of the more anticipated out there. Well we can remove the upcoming tag from their season, it is officially under way.

The season starts with the remaining survivors from last season hauling ass out of Atlanta. As they get on the road, they hit a road block. Typical right? In this setting, nothing is typical. As they search the road block, and a way out of it, they find supplies. More importantly they find zombies, or walkers as they call them. They all attempt to hide under cars, in the bathroom of the RV and under dead zombies on the road. Little Sophia unwisely attempts to get out from under a car and is spotted by a walker, who attempts to eat her alive. She escapes that only to run into the woods where she is chased by some more walkers.

The whole rest of the episode is based around finding her as there is no clear indication of her being alive or dead. Being a 12 yr old girl may help you infer what should happen, but it is a TV series.

The key to the series is survival and the scenes where they are being attacked. That's obviously the part that brings everyone back for more. This episode certainly isn't lacking in that department. With it being a 90 minute premiere, it's a little slower paced but it definitely does not disappoint.

I did just want to go through the beginning parts of the episode and not give away too much, this is something that has to be watched. I will say there is a church scene that made me laugh for some odd reason and there is a cliffhanger that most won't fully see coming.

The premiere of season 2 was great. The idea of a season premiere is to really set up the rest of the season. This is going to be much longer than season 1, 13 episodes to be exact, so you can already see storylines are being set up, crazy cliffhangers are around the corner and great zombie killing action is on the way.
