Surprise Actor/Actress of the year

Breakout of the year and Surprise actor/actress of the year are very similar awards. What separates them is Breakout of the year may not be a surprise performance from someone, very much like Natalie Portmans role in Black Swan. This award goes to the actor or actress who seemingly comes out of nowhere and puts in a really good performance.

Here are the Surprise actor or actress winners, along with runner ups:

Robert Acosta:

Winner: Michael Cera in "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"
Runner ups: Aaron Johnson, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Ellen Page

Jose Diaz:

Winner: Aaron Johnson in "Kick-Ass"
Runner ups: Jay Baruchel

This had to be one of the harder awards to think about and give a clear cut winner. You can easily make a case for any of the people listed above that they had the surprise performance(s) of the year. Though in the end, the commercial success of the movie really played a role in the winners winning. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Kick-Ass both were positively reviewed, naming both Cera and Johnson as strong points of the films.
