I remember reporting a couple months back, right after Inception came out, that the three prominent males featured in Inception were all being looked at for roles in the next Batman movie. Turns out, that was true.
Tom Hardy, best known for his roles in the HBO series Band of Brothers, RocknRolla, Bronson and of course Inception, was probably the lesser of the three prominent males in Inception(Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Leonardo DiCaprio being the other two).
His role is still not determined, or at the very least not being publicly discussed. He could be a villain or he could be someone you see for a couple minutes, no one knows yet. Everyone wants in on the next Batman film. Everyone from Robin Williams stating he would love to play anything from The Riddler to a prison inmate to Edward Norton saying he wouldn't mind playing a role in a Batman movie.
It's the magic of director Christopher Nolan that has any and everyone looking to play a role in the next Batman film. At the moment, this man can't go wrong so why wouldn't you want to be cast in his movie?
