Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Episodes 1 and 2 Review

Forgive the lateness, I just wanted to make sure that The Secret Circle was going to be good enough to review. And since it comes on right after VD I pushed both first episode reviews back a week.

Main Cast:

Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert), Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), Steven R McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert), Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan), Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood), Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes), Joseph Morgan (Klaus), Matthew Davis (Alaric Saltzman)

Review - Episode 1

So we begin where we left off. Stefan is still with Klaus and reverted to his old savage, “ripper” ways. While Klaus seems to be hunting werewolves. Back at Mystic Falls, Elena is celebrating her birthday. Alaric has been staying with the Gilbert kids since what happened last season. Damon is still Damon. And Jeremy is working with Matt at the bar/grill. But it seems that since Jeremy was resurrected he is seeing ghosts.

Now that the little summary is over I can begin with the review. Obviously we are going to be seeing our cast searching for both Klaus and Stefan. And we will be seeing what exactly Klaus wants with Stefan and what he is after. Along the way we seem to be getting a ghost story between Jeremy and Matt, as they get closer in their friendship. Along with the odd but budding relationship between Caroline and Tyler. Now being the first episode all we got was the beginnings of the new story and character arcs and the continuation of last seasons cliffhanger. And so far Vampire Diaries season three has me excited to see what unfolds this season. Especially with Stefan reverting back to a monster while keeping his humanity and love for Elena intact. While Klaus seems to be trying to create some new vampire/werewolf hybrids like himself.

Review - Episode 2

All I am going to say is that Elena is nosy and doesn’t know when to get help and likes to get herself into trouble. That is basically half the episode. She finds out where Stefan and Klaus could be and gets Tyler to map it out for her. She enlists Alaric to help here find the place. Meanwhile Tyler is looking for Caroline since she disappeared after they hooked up last episode. Seems his mother is trying to deal with that on here own.

Klaus finds his wolf pack and proceeds to try and turn them all. Now here is what I like about Vampire Diaries. Klaus fangs up before a commercial and if you look carefully at his mouth you can see that they gave him double fangs. A set of vampire fangs along with a set of werewolf fangs. So he pops out four sharp fangs instead of the normal two. Badass I have to say. And his eyes are a mix of gold and red.

So Elena and Alraic are searching the woods and Damon makes an appearance at the behest of Alaric, surprising Elena. They soon meet up with a werewolf that escaped from Klaus and witness him transforming during the day. They run off only for Damon to get caught up fighting the new wolf/vamp hybrid. Stefan runs in and kills the wolf saving his brother. Telling Damon to run and keep Elena safe and away. Stefan returns to Klaus and sees all the turned hybrids dead all over the camp area. Klaus tells him that the process failed. Some died, or bled out. Some he had to kill himself. He wonders why his plan to make a powerful hybrid army failed. That he belives he did everything that was told of him to do. Kill a vampire, a werewolf, and a doppelganger. Breaking the curse and allowing him to create other like him. Well we know that he didn’t kill the doppelganger since Elena is alive and well. He cures Stefan’s wolf bite and they move off somewhere else.

Meanwhile Matt and Jeremy are trying to contact Matt’s dead sister, who has appeared to Jeremy asking for help and telling him that they can bring her back to life. Soon after Jeremy’s ex-vampire dead girlfriend appears and tell him not to believe Vicki. Some crazy shit right there haha. The episode ends with Caroline tied up to a chair screaming for help only for the man that Tyler’s mother called to help get rid of her to show up. Well Caroline then cries out “dad?” before the show ended. Which leaves us wonder what the hell? And anxiously waiting for next week.
