Review- Episode 1

We open this new series, with ties to Vampire Diaries, with the death of the main characters (Cassie) mother by a mysterious magic using baddie. Fast forward a couple weeks or so and Cassie moves in with her Grandmother in the old town her mom and dad used to live in, New Salem. Here she starts school as the new girl. But not everything is as it seems. Before leaving her room, her moms old room. She looks out her window and sees her neighbor, shirtless too, staring at her. At school she notices a couple of people looking at her, making her uncomfortable. She gets help with her locker from Faye. Diana soon introduces herself and tells her to go to this hangout place by the pier. Soon after she makes I there and meets another kid, Adam, who works at the place since his dad runs it. She leaves soon after Faye and Melissa stop by and tell her a bunch of weird things and just act rather creepy and bitchy. Faye then reveals herself to us by messing with Cassie’s car. Cassie panics and her own powers mix with Faye’s and the car gets set on fire. Adam saves her.

The episode goes on and soon Cassie is meeting the other main five characters. Adam, Faye, Melissa, Nick (her neighbor), and Diana. They tell Cassie that they are witches and that the six together, the new generation, are a Circle. Diana keeps mentioning that since they are finally together they need to bind their powers so they won’t get out of control. Of course the bitching Faye shoots the idea down, wanting to keep her individual powers. This soon leads to Cassie to run off while Adam follows. They stop in a field and Adam shows Cassie the power they have by floating a drop of water from a leaf. Yet once the camera pans out we see how powerful they now are, the whole area they are in is surrounded by drops of water.

Towards the end we see Faye testing out her powers by summoning a huge storm. She looses control and can’t stop it. While the storm rages on Cassie and Diana come by and finally Cassie is able to stop it. Soon back at her room Cassie finds her mothers grimoir/ spell book and a letter from her mom to be careful. Oh and Diana’s father is Charles, who so happens to be the killer of Cassie’s mother!

Review - Episode 2

I have to admit the first episode wasn’t as exciting as it could have been. But considering it is a new series it is expected. Thankfully the second episode gives us some more information and story to finally see where The Secret Circle may be headed. After the events of the first episode Diana is trying desperately to make the Circle bind themselves. Basically sounding like a broken record and giving the impression that she wants to do this on purpose or a malicious reason. Nick and Faye don’t want to, while Melissa seems to be the sucker of the group and goes along what Faye and Nick say. Adam is indifferent about it but will agree with his girlfriend Diana says.

The episode takes a bit of a twist when Faye’s grandfather stops by and tells her mother Dawn that he is here on business. Which makes Dawn seek out Charles and demands he give back the crystal. Since it holds a limited amount of their power. Which was stripped from them years ago after the deaths of their husbands and wives. Which is why the new six have dead parents, either a mother or father. Or in Nick’s case both his parents, and now Cassie both of hers.

Later on Faye bitches up again and accidentally kills a student who was trying to talk to Cassie. Dawn then jumps down and uses the crystal to revive her. But her father in law sees it and confronts Dawn about it. He tells her that the kids or practicing magic and that they need to watch them and stop them before they bind their powers. Which, according to what he said would be dangerous for them to do. Telling Dawn that he will go to the elders and that he wants the crystal to get rid of it. Dawn proceeds to give her father in law a heart attack.

At the end of the episode, the six meet up to bind their powers. Considering how dangerous they are individually, especially Faye the idiotic bitch. But what we get as previews for next week was exciting. Since they are de-powered now, unless they are together, seems someone is after them to kill them.
