Weekend Box Office May 20th-22nd

By: Robert Acosta

With Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides making its way to theaters this past Friday, it was a lock for it to be the number 1 money grabber over the weekend. But damn, it pretty much grabbed everything! Here's this past weekends box office numbers:
  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides   $90.1 Million
  2. Bridesmaids   $21.1 Million
  3. Thor   $15.5 Million
  4. Fast Five   $10.6 Million
  5. Rio   $4.7 Million
  6. Priest   $4.6 Million
  7. Jumping the Broom   $3.7 Million
  8. Something Borrowed   $3.4 Million
  9. Water for Elephants   $2.2 Million
  10. Madea's Big Happy Family   $1 Million

So, it was a landslide for Pirates. No surprise there.

Bridesmaids is doing really well for itself, even with its B list(or less really) cast. Something we missed out on that we may have to catch, could be a darkhorse comedy favorite if you know what I mean.

Thor is doing its thing at #3 and overall is approaching the $150 Million mark and should have that by this weekend.

It's crazy to think that any movie could top Pirates 4 at this point but we've got 2 heavy hitters coming next week. Kung Fu Panda 2 and Hangover II are both coming out and they are coming for blood!...Or the top spot.

Stay tuned to the Movie Spot this week as we have reviews for Pirates 4, The Next Three Days and Waiting for Forever coming this week!
