Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark has Guillermo del Toro producing, comic book artist Troy Nixey directing, his first feature gig. Top-shelf stars Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce in the lead roles. An R-rating from the MPAA. And rounding it all out, the movie is actually an adaptation of ABC’s 1973 made-for-TV horror flick.
With del Toro serving as a guiding light on the project, as well as an aimed-for PG-13 rating that was ultimately given up on in the interests of delivering a great horror movie, this seems like one to get excited about. You’ll almost certainly feel that way after you watch the creepy, new trailer, which offers your first, quick glimpses at the movie’s creatures. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark opens on Aug. 26.
