The Spot News: Stephen King talks 10 best movies of the year

By: Robert Acosta

The year is winding down so it's normal to have top movies in mind, which ones you liked, which ones you hated, so on and so forth. Every now and then you hear about a celebrity talk about their favorite movies of the year and things get a bit interesting.

Normally, I could care less about what celebrities think about movies. Even actors themselves tend to mention movies that only they're in or critically acclaimed movies. Not that there is too much wrong with that, but I like to mention all the movies, no discrimination.

When I hear Stephen King talk about top 10 movies of the year though, I get interested. King is obviously accredited with writing some insanely scary stories that get made into just as scary films. Films such as Carrie, It, The Shining, Cujo, just to name a few. So here it is, Stephen King's top 10 movies of this year:

  1. Let Me In
  2. The Town
  3. Inception
  4. The Social Network
  5. Takers
  6. Kick-Ass
  7. Splice
  8. Monsters
  9. Jackass 3D
  10. Green Zone
This is probably one of the more interesting top 10 movie lists you'll find this year. He has a mix of legit great movies that are going to be on most peoples list, movies that might be on a few lists and movies that won't be on anyones list.

Green Zone at #10 is a bit surprising. It was a decent effort, trying to show politics and all its wrongs but it wasn't nearly as great to merit a top 10 spot. Jackass 3D at #9 is another shocker. Though I enjoyed the hell out of it, and most people seemed to as well, it really doesn't belong on a list like this.

As noted by others, Takers at #5 is the most interesting choice. Though a good amount of people enjoyed Takers, I don't think it was taken seriously enough to be in the top 10.

We at The Movie Spot are going to have our own top 10 movies list for 2010 in mid-late December along with some of the better movies in all genres of movies. Not because Stephen King influenced this or anything, we just like making lists.
