Review: It's all over. By now, most of the people reading this have seen the film, or at least read the damn book, and have seen the billion dollar franchise, Harry Potter, come to an end. Did it go out with a bang or just a mere whimper?

I'll start by saying that part 1 and part 2 of the Deathly Hallows are as opposite as they can be. Part 1 was more story driven, slow paced, not a whole lot of action, really just setting up the finale. Part 2 is explosive, in your face, fast paced action. I originally was very much in favor of having 2 films just so that the story can be explained a little better, no feeling that a movie is too long and that they have to cut out stuff for lengths sake. Well, they seemingly overlooked stuff anyway. Though, I still doubt that the overlooking details problem could have been fixed if they just turned this into one long film.

You get thrown into the action pretty quickly, which is nice after you sat through a slow first part just under a year ago. The battles are pretty epic, lots of characters die, lots of characters show a brave side, get their ass kicked, kick ass, the whole nine.

In terms of story, you do pretty much get the 2nd half of the book. Lots of key details, things that will have you trying to remember back to the older books/films and things that will have you second guessing how you feel about characters. The director/producers stuck to the book really well as they have mostly done in the series.

What I didn't like, which ties into the overlooking details problem that the movie kind of has, is some deaths aren't portrayed as definitively as they were in the book. I mean, we lose some major characters here, some very adored, loved characters. Sure, the impact is there and you feel terrible as you see their motionless body on the floor. I just felt that sticking closer to the book on this one could have added a deeper impact.

There isn't much I can say without getting too repetitive. The acting is top notch, like it has been in the whole series. The action sequences are intense, epic scenes. The story is as gripping as it has ever been. Could they have turned the Deathly Hallows into one movie? Sure. Am I nitpicking a bit? You bet ya. I'm 100% satisfied with leaving Harry Potter behind and I personally hope that the series is left here, Potter fans have enjoyed the ride.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5
