Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Episodes 16 Review - "1912"

The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, named Sage (Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation of the murders, but Damon is convinced she's going after the wrong suspect who is Alaric.

Meanwhile, Elena and Matt resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Meredith is the killer they find a hidden door in her closet with a Gilbert journal that belonged to the original Johnathan Gilbert's granddaughter. And another one of my little shout outs to Matt. Hell he even mentions in this episode why I like him, he is the only normal human character left. Plus there seems to be a bit of teasing between Elena and Matt. Maybe a possible rekindling of the relationship.

For reasons known only to her, Rebekah becomes interested in locating one of the town's oldest landmarks that involve information Stefan and Damon might have on what happened to it or where it is. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan after forcing him to drink fresh human blood. Damon wants to help him control his savagery when he feeds, to help like Stefan ahs always tried to help him. I think there is also a bit of blaming himself on Stefan’s part for the way Damon is such a beast when feeding. Elena and Matt catch Damon with blood all over his mouth from feeding from a pretty girl. The episode ends with Meredith at Elena's house explaining to Alaric that he is the killer because of his Gilbert ring that lets him cheat at death as the same thing happened to the granddaughter of Jonathan Gilbert in 1912. Seems the ring causes a side effect from all the dying and reviving of going crazy.
