The Secret Circle - Small Screen Review

The Secret Circle - Small Screen Review

Episode 17 Review - "Curse"

Cassie and Adam wake up finding dozens of dead crows in her yard. Blackwell informs them that by having sex, they've activated an old curse placed on the Conants and Blakes. Cassie goes to see her grandmother for more information. Jane says that generations ago, a seer witch placed a curse on the Conants and Blakes to prevent the two families from coming together out of jealously. If the curse is activated, a member of the circle will die.
Cassie goes to see Jake because he wasn't with the rest of the circle when she told them about the curse. He says he hasn't been feeling well. A dark vein appear on his arm indicating that the curse is affecting him.

Meanwhile, Faye goes over to Lee's house after it becomes apparent that he's missing. Eva demands that Faye help her bring Lee back to life. Faye says it's impossible and Eva threatens to kill her. Faye gives Eva fake instructions for the spell. She takes the voodoo totem from under the bed when Eva leaves the room for candles. A brief struggle ensues and Faye breaks the totem in half, rendering Eva powerless.

Blackwell finds a cure for the curse in Amelia's Book of Shadows. Cassie, Adam, and Jake go to Calvin's to collect ingredients for the elixir. The three go into the woods to collect more plants, but Jake begins to hallucinate and attacks Adam mistaking him for Calvin, the witch he killed.

Cassie and Adam drink the elixir that will cause them to forget their feelings for one another and save Jake's life. Cassie tearfully tells her father that the elixir worked only on Adam and she still remembers everything. Dawn confronts Blackwell, calling him a manipulator because she knows there is no curse; Amelia would have told her. It is revealed that he still has his dark magic and used it to kill the crows, get Jane to confirm the curse's existence and sicken Jake. He claims he did this to protect Cassie because Ethan and Amelia's relationship is what destroyed their circle.
