The Spot News: Keeping the Bourne options open

By: Robert Acosta

Matt Damon has been around the block in terms of acting. But no matter he'll manage to do for the rest of his career, he'll always be remembered easily as Jason Bourne. No one could have ever imagined a Bourne movie with Damon. Well, that day is coming, and too soon if you ask me.

It isn't news that Damon won't be in the next Bourne movie, aptly titled Bourne Legacy. It certainly wasn't my idea of posting this. What was my idea was the few names that have been dropped as the successor to Damon.

The short list contains Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom), Dominic Cooper (Captain America) and Luke Evans (Tamara Drewe). Also mentioned, and only slighty, is Shia Labeouf and Taylor Kitsch.

It's not a terrible list, for some this could be a breakout role. For Labeouf, this really wouldn't be and I honestly couldn't imagine him as Bourne. He seems to be the odd man out.

My pick is between Dominic Cooper and Joel Edgerton. They both have the look and in Cooper's case, he's got some action experience...or will have some after Captain America hits.
