April Fools Month!/ April Movie Releases

March Madness showed us a nice side to March, a usually sub par month of movies. Movies like Battle LA, Rango and Sucker Punch all put up solid showings.

April is looking pretty good, I admit. Every week features at least 1 movie that is worth watching. In the first week, that has already past by the way, Source Code looks to be the clear cut choice. An action, drama, thriller that puts a nice story together. Then you got Hop released just a couple weeks before Easter and looks like a decent animated kids movie.

For this week, the 2nd week of the month, a couple of decent to good comedies coming out with Your Highness and Arthur. Of the 2, Your Highness looks funnier so that may be the one to go with. Danny McBride and James Franco are just hilarious. Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel are also in the cast and are two of the funniest women around, so I don't think you can go wrong with Your Highness.

In the 3rd week we have what may be the movie of the month, Scream 4. I'm a huge Scream fan, I love how they blend good horror with nice thrills and chills. All 3 previous films were very good, which is rare for a horror series. The 4th part looks just as good as the rest of the series.

The last 2 weeks may be the weaker of the month but show some decency. Water for Elephants is an intriguing romance/drama movie, a novel adaptation from a decent book. Madea makes her way back to the big screen to already very mixed reactions. And then there is Fast Five. It looks insane, i'll admit that too. It looks and feels like The Expendables with 2nd rate actors, no offense to them. I'm on the fence with Fast Five, which excites me a bit.

Here’s April!!

March delivered some pretty decent movie selections and it seems April is bringing some more of that. It has been a nice build up to the summer movie season. Insidious, Hop, and Source Code start the month off. Three different genres and three great viewing choices. I actually want to catch Insidious and Source Code.

The following week gives us three other movies that look great. The comedies Arthur and Your Highness and the action movie Hanna. These two weeks have six movies fighting for our cash and the top spot. It will be an interesting box office.

The 15th sees Rio and Scream 4. Rio is a bit iffy for me while Scream 4 might be the come back for Wes Craven and a return of the slasher series.

The 22nd is a subdued week with African Cats, Water for Elephants, and a new Madea/Tyler Perry movie.

The 29th is another odd week with a bunch of smaller films being released. Yes I consider Fast Five a small release. Also Dylan Dog, Prom, and second part to Hoodwinked which I didn’t know was getting another movie until now.

Well April starts off strong and ends on a quiet note. I honestly wished the six “bigger” movies at the beginning were spread out through out the month. At least I get a chance to save up money to catch the movies of May and the start of the summer movie season. Woohoo Thor!!
