I know, 2012 is still a long ways away but it can't hurt to talk about what is probably going to be the event of that year now right?
The Dark Knight Rises will start shooting mid next year and to be released in the Summer movie season of 2012. All that we know. Though lots of details are still forthcoming about the film, Christian Bale, Mr. Batman himself, said that this could very well be his last hurrah as Batman.
In an Interview with Total Film, Bale states that he feels The Dark Knight Rises will be the last time him AND Christopher Nolan, the director, be a part of a Batman film. Of course he also goes on to indicate that maybe if Nolan were to come back for a fourth Batman film, that he would love still be involved.
Is any of this saying much? I'm not sure yet. They haven't even started shooting this film yet and they're already talking beyond The Dark Knight Rises. We'll see how TDKR does, both critically and financially. Eventually one or both of them have to move on from this franchise, could it be coming sooner rather than later?
