The Spot News: Americanized Martyrs
German Director Daniel Stamm is set to Americanize the horror film Martyrs. Stamm had this to say:
"Martyrs is very nihilistic. The American approach would go through all that darkness but then give a glimmer of hope. You don’t have to shoot yourself when it’s over."
Now I don't know if anyone reading this has seen this movie but a possible "American" version of Martyrs will not work in any way. The movie is a total mind-f**k. The first half of the movie is a "traditional" horror movie with plenty of weirdness and what the hell is actually going on and is rather freaky. Then all of a sudden it twists itself into this psychological and uncomfortable whirlpool of insanity. I see no way to properly remake the movie for American audiences without completely cutting the second half of the movie. I say just dub it in English and release it as is.
