The story of Logan going off to Japan has collected some interest from directors. A lot of this has to do with the fact that Hugh Jackman has been courting some directors for the project. They say that ultimately the decision of the helmer comes down to Jackman. Last we heard, David Slade was the forerunner for the film. But in a rather cool twist, Jackman has also been in discussion with his former director on The Fountain, Darren Aronofsky. Will it be Slade or Aronofsky? Only time can tell. Robert Schwentke (RED) was at one time circling the film, but decided against it.
