Breakout actor or actress of the year award is up and this is usually one of the more fun discussions to have. Primarily because you're usually talking about someone who most people never really cared for, or maybe never even heard about.
Without any further delay, the winner and runner ups for the Breakout actor/actress of the year:
Robert Acosta:
Winner: Tom Hardy
Runner ups: Aaron Johnson, Justin Timberlake, Rooney Mara, Emma Roberts.
Jose Diaz:
Winner: Natalie Portman
Runner ups: Jesse Eisenberg
Lots of fresh new names in this category, which is fantastic. Natalie Portman isn't a fresh face in acting but her performance in Black Swan makes it hard not to pick her. For logics sake, let's hope she takes some hardware away from the Oscars.
As for Mr. Tom Hardy, a lot of people saw him as the lesser piece in Inception this year. While that may be true, he had a great performance and he was definitely noticed. He already has a tremendous opportunity with being cast as the villain in the next Batman film. Well deserved.
