In honor of the holiday, Faye and Melissa throw a girls-only "anti-Valentine’s Day" slumber party for themselves and allow fellow witches Diana and Cassie to attend. Adam gets possessed by the witches who threaten to kill Adam if they do not get the medallion. Cassie seems to break the medallion and the witches disappear. The River - Small Screen Review
The River - Small Screen Review
After seeing the two part premiere of The River I have to say that this is a very good and creepy show. The “found footage” type works so well with the show. Giving us static camera views along with hand held camera views which add this overall dread and tension. Normally we get a view of what we are supposed to see, but with this we are left with limited views that make us wonder “what’s going on behind them?” or “what is that moving over there?” things like that. Hell the first episode alone is rather spooky. The search crew finding a welded shut door and once opening it finding some voodoo statues and weird wooden child casket. Then that creature/spirit coming out and terrorizing them all. Shit the second one was worse with that little girl ghost haunting them where that tree was with all those creepy hanging dolls.
Episode One - Pilot/"Magus" (Part 1)
Six months ago, Emmet Cole - adventurer and host of The Undiscovered Country - disappeared while on an expedition deep in the uncharted waters of the Amazon River. The fruitless search and subsequent 'memorial service' left thousands of fans in shock at the loss of their icon. But now his emergency beacon was activated and his wife Tess - who reluctantly faced reality - organizes a search party to find Emmet Cole. The team comprises of her estranged son Lincoln, who was more than ready to leave the past behind; Emmet's long-time friend and Undiscovered Country producer Clark Quietly, Magus mechanic Emilio Valenzuela and his daughter Jahel; Lena Landry, daughter of cameraman Russ Landry who disappeared along with Cole; and Captain Kurt Bryndilson, head of the expedition. But what they don't know is that this journey will take them to a place where magic comes alive and things are never what they seem. The team unleashes a ghost that terrorizes the boat and kills Jed. It tells Tess that Emmet is alive.
Episode Two - "Marbeley" (Part 2)
When Jahel becomes possessed by Emmet Cole's spirit, Tess becomes undeterred from her goal of finding clues to her husband's whereabouts. And when the team discovers a tree draped in children's dolls, an old legend reminds them that the dolls ward off the "spirit of the abandoned girl." But when a crew member disappears, Tess realizes she must endure the ongoing horrors in order to reunite her family.

Review: Most people are starting to dislike the found footage type of movie now. I think it's because too many movie producers are using it now. Honestly, I love them. I think they add an element of realism to it, even in the case of Chronicle where these things are unbelievable, you can sort of see it happening in real life.
Chronicle isn't a long movie, not even reaching the 90 minute standard that most movies come in nowadays. But what it manages to do in the 83 minutes it does run is put together a nice action, science fiction film. Doesn't feel terribly short, doesn't feel rushed, it feels like one fluid story.
The story is somewhat innovative in the sense that you don't see these kind of movies all the time. Of course, there is some lack of explanation and judging by the ending, we may or may not see a sequel. For instance, you see how they get their superpowers, but no why. A sequel would have to touch on that.
The main three actors in the film are relatively young, unknowns, other than Michael B Jordan who has certainly been around. That's certainly another aspect to the film of making this believable, not having these A list actors on screen, but rather having people who look like they actually could come across some superpowers.
In terms of entertainment and action, there is enough to go around. The last 25 minutes really bumped this movie up in my eyes. Not to say that the first 60 minutes were lacking action or anything, but there was more story and buildup to the ending done in those 60 minutes and everything seemingly exploded in the last 25 minutes.
All of the stunts they pull off in the film look pretty good, even believable really. All the stuff you see in the trailer, the flying, car moving, teddy bear dancing stuff that the kids make happen with their powers all look even better on screen.
I don't wanna say too much about ending, or characters fates, but I do believe everything is not what it seems when it comes to these supernatural type movies. While the ending doesn't completely suggest a 2nd movie is coming, the movie has made it's budget back and then some in the box office, and that more than anything is the tell tale sign of a possible sequel.
Chronicle was certainly more action packed and over the top than I expected, and that's a good thing. A very good Science Fiction flick that should be seen to believed.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Review
Dwayne Johnson as Hank
Josh Hutcherson as Sean
Plot: After cracking some codes, Sean and step father Hank embark on a journey to find the Mysterious Island and Sean's grandpa (played by Michael Caine)
Review: I've got a weird review on my hands here. Because on one hand, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. What it was a somewhat pseudo kids movie with a lot of likable actors put together. You cannot deny how charismatic The Rock, Josh Hutcherson, Luis Guzman and Michael Caine are. Not to mention Vanessa Hudgens is very easy on the eyes. On the other hand, there's nothing outstanding about this movie either. Being a sequel of a movie that most people may have missed, or really didn't care about, the direction is a bit weird.

Amazing!
Wow. I am even more exciting to see this then I was before. This fells like the Spider-Man movie we should have gotten in the first place. We get some glimpses of Parker working on his web shooters, his movements, and maybe some other spidey gadgets. I like the size of the Lizard but not a fan of the face. I wish they kept the snout/mouth of the original comic version. But it is a tiny nitpick from the trailer. i will have to wait to fully see it when it comes out.

Cast: Sam Witwer (Aiden), Meaghan Rath (Sally), Sam Huntington (Josh), Kristen Hager (Nora), Dichen Lachman (Suren)
Season 2: Episode 3 - "All Out of Blood"
When Josh rents storage rooms for himself and Nora to safely "wolf out" in, Nora is far from thrilled. While they argue over it, Nora reveals that she remembers killing Heggeman. Sally, watching from a few feet away, is distracted by a dark, shadowy figure before it vanishes suddenly. Meanwhile, Aidan and Julia enjoy a lovely morning together, except for the fact that Aidan almost bites her, instead taking out his urges with a blood pack.
At the hospital, Josh and Sally confront Aidan about his whereabouts, and he finally admits to seeing someone he likes. Josh expresses concern but Aidan convinces him that he is fine as long as he has plenty of bagged blood to drink, which might become a problem since the hospital has started locking up their blood supplies. The nursery catches Sally's attention and she accidentally discovers nurse Zoe Gonzalez, a human who can not only see and talk to ghosts but also helps them merge with babies to be reincarnated.
Later that night, Josh and Aidan enjoy a brief if awkward moment of male bonding about sexual conquest but the good feelings are short lived. The next morning, they discover that the woman Aidan is seeing is Josh's former fiancé. After a painful reunion between Josh and Julia, tensions are high all around. Later, Aidan approaches Julia and breaks off the relationship, both because of tensions with Josh and his inability to stop himself from feeding on her. When Sally sees Zoe helping a ghost merge with a newborn baby to become reincarnated, she makes it her goal to become reincarnated, too. After having a heart to heart with Zoe, Sally convinces her to come to the house and interview her "roommates".
Aidan and Josh pretend to be humans who can see ghosts and try to give Zoe a good impression of Sally, but Zoe passes on reincarnating her when they reveal Sally nearly killed Danny. Sally tries to jump into a baby herself, but has to stop when the dark spirit that has been following her around attacks her. She realizes that if she does jump into a baby, the spirit will kill her. Without access to the hospital's blood bank, Aidan is falling deeper and deeper into despair and sickness. He cannot stop sweating, he is weak, pale and, most of all, he is hungry. Finally, he gives in and goes to a woman who lets vampires feed off her for money and he drinks his fill. Josh and Sally are not sure that Nora is going to show up for their full moon lockdown, and they are almost right. Nora spends her day stalking Julia with the intention of hurting her. Realizing she is a danger to others, Nora shows up for Sally to lock both she and Josh up before the full moon.

Plot:
Sean Anderson partners with his mom's boyfriend on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.
Cast:
Josh Hutcherson (Sean Anderson), Dwayne Johnson (Hank), Michael Caine (Alexander), Luis Guzman (Gabato), Vanessa Hudgens (Kailani), Kristin Davis (Liz)
Review:
Journey 2 is a fun, fast paced, family film. Full of excitement and action and eye catching visuals.
Journey 2 actually starts off pretty fast, with Sean (Josh) on a motorcycle being chased by police. Soon crashing in a pool and caught. His step-father Hank (Dwayne) picks him up and takes him home. Within minutes we learn that Sean was using satellites to pick up a coded message from his lost grandfather. Later Hank, being an ex SEAL, helps Sean decode the message finding the location of the Mysterious Island from Jules Verne’s books.
Getting to the island proves difficult and we soon see Sean, Hank, and tour guide Gabato (Guzman) and his daughter Kalian (Vanessa) caught in a storm and there helicopter destroyed. They find themselves on the island searching for Sean’s grandfather. They notice that the wildlife are opposite in size. Like elephants are the size of dogs and lizards and insects are large dinosaur sized beasts. There is a really great action scene that happens with a giant lizard chasing after the group with plenty of close calls. They are saved by Alexander (Caine) and soon find themselves looking for a way off the island. Which turns out to be actually Atlantis. And sinking back into the ocean.
Journey 2 is an extremely fast paced movie. It just starts off and doesn’t slow down. Like in other films where the beginning is slow and dialogue or story heavy and then the action starts. This movie starts you off fast and throws introductions out quickly. Later on we get some slower paced scenes that give us a chance to see and learn more about our characters. Like how Hank’s father left him when he was young. How Alexander is pained about leaving his family behind for so many years. How Gabato wants to give Kailani everything so she can go to college. You get that underlining story of wanting to do good for your kids or trying to redeem yourself for past failures.
The island itself is really well made and looks like how a mysterious island would look like. Crazy and wild with animals bigger than what they should be. Volcanoes that spew out molten gold. I love how they connected 20,000 Leagues under the sea and how Captain Nemo’s tomb and Nautilus submarine.
I do have to speak about the 3D and how it was the best 3D I have seen used in a movie recently. I am not sure if they upgraded the tech and cameras. I don’t follow that so I can’t tell you. But the 3D was so good in Journey 2. Especially with when the cast are using giant bees to fly around and these giant birds swoop down and attack them. Chasing them around the forest. And you need to see how the 3D is used when Hank and Sean are under the ocean trying to power up the Nautilus by using a harpoon and a giant electric eel. The harpoon flies right at you. Hell earlier when the helicopter is being sucked into the storm and the debris was flying everywhere I thought an actual piece of dirt flew into my eyes.
I do want to mention a couple more things that I would consider T&A. Not dirty stuff though. A quick shirtless Josh Hutcherson and a barley wearing clothing Vanessa Hudgens aside. I want to talk about the pecs. Hank’s dancing pecs. There is a scene where Hank is talking to Sean about how to impress girls and tells him that Sean needs to pump him pecs. So he starts doing it and then Hank tells him to bounce a berry off on them . He does and it gets launched toward the audience. Hank then tells him to keep doing it to “feed the pec”. Sean says no and then out of nowhere Gabato (Guzman) pops out with a handful of berries and says “I want to feed them” and proceeds to throw berry after berry at Hank. They fly everywhere, hitting Sean and then one in Gabato’s mouth. It was a hilarious scene.
Final Thoughts:
Great movie and so much fun. Good for all ages really. The whole cast seemed to love their roles and it showed. The action was good and the story was straight forward and clear. They even leave it open at the end for a possible third film.
* Did they seriously get a close up of Vanessa Hudgens short shorts ass while she was climbing out of Nemo’s tomb?

After the disaster that was the last Spider-Man movie, we are getting a re-make of the series. Not sure exactly why they had to go to re-make route instead of just making a new movie. But regardless, what I have seen from Amazing Spider-Man has been all good. Andrew Garfield seems like he will be a decent Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Along with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and finally getting the Lizard as the villain. Amazing seems like will be a welcome addition to the Spider-Man franchise and a hopefully a good start in the right direction.

What is there to say why this movie is on my To Watch List of 2012?
You have a movie that is supposed to be the prequel of the Alien franchise. Yet also not a prequel, depending on where you read or what you hear. Then there is the possibility of seeing something similar to the Alien creatures along with the creatures that are responsible for them the Space Jockeys. Then you add in the fact that Ridley Scott directing a great looking cast. So then you mix all that up and what you get is a movie that is highly anticipated.

Snow White and The Huntsman
A re-imagining of a classic fairy tale on my list?
Yes.
Snow White and The Huntsman sounded to me like it will be a mess of a movie. For one it was going against another Snow White movie, fighting for release and an audience. And it also stars Kristen Stewart...
So you see my reluctance with the movie. But after seeing the trailer, I was kind of surprised. It looked really great. Hell seeing the way they handled the Mirror was amazing. The action and fights. Hell look at the evil queen played by Charlize Theron, lovely.
It will not be a run of the mill take on Snow White. It looks like it will be a surprise hit.

Episode Thirteen - "Commitment"
Emily watches Treadwell's old interview tapes of David Clarke and David reveals that Charlotte is his biological daughter. Emily urges Amanda to lay low after the Treadwell incident, claiming it was Victoria who set the fire. Emily sends the tape to Conrad, who uses the information to cripple Victoria's divorce claims. Victoria calls in Amanda to talk to her about the stolen tapes, and obtains her DNA to test if Amanda is really Amanda Clarke. After test results prove Conrad is not Charlotte's father, he sends her to move back in with Victoria.
Daniel proposes to Emily and she accepts, even though she knows about the clause in his trust fund. Conrad tells Daniel about Charlotte. Meanwhile, Victoria sends a man to Jack's house to find the tapes, which Emily planted there, and Jack is brutally beaten in the process. It's revealed that Ryan Huntly (Victora's divorce lawyer) is on Emily's side. Emily tells Amanda the truth, and tells her to leave town to keep herself and Jack safe. Daniel confronts Victoria about Charlotte, and when Victoria finds it difficult to talk about, Daniel believes she was raped by David. When he tells Emily this, her plan for revenge is only intensified.
Ten Movies to Watch Out For In 2012
Let me hit on The Three Stooges first. I was very turned off about a modern take on the Three Stooges. I felt it was something that could not be done properly without cloning the original Moe, Larry, and Curly. Or involving time machines. But after seeing the trailer I was left chuckling. The actors playing the trio look and act pretty spot on. Might be a surprise comedy hit. Especially for those wanting some Three Stooges comedy.
Now to American Reunion. I am a fan of the original three films. Along with the first three direct to DVD films too. Hey they were good! But bringing back the full cast after almost a decade for a high-school reunion and to see what they have been up to will be a blast. A hilarious blast.

Episode 2 - "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?"
Josh looks at Heggeman who has him in his sights when Nora, fully transformed, attacks Heggeman and kills him. Aidan digs up Suren, Mother's daughter, and brings her to the Halloway Hotel so she can feed on willing people so she may regain her strength. Sally, horrified at the actual sensation she had in her nightmare, seeks solace with Stevie and his friends Dylan and "Boner", who Josh and Nora meet when they get home. Josh reveals to Aidan that Nora has killed Heggeman. Nora tries to clear her head as Sally reveals to Stevie she physically felt something when she opened the Door in her dream.
Aidan attempts to help Suren take her place as Boston's head vampire by suggesting that they install a new vampire police officer as their assistant, but she has other plans, having chosen the still human police officer Cecelia to pick a new subject rather than one of Bishop's sires. Suren tries to get Aidan to turn her, but he refuses. Josh tries to console Nora at work when he is reminded that he has to attend the first-year med student mixer. Josh later manages to convince her to go, where she gets drunk to take solace in the fact that she is now a werewolf and that she has miscarried her and Josh's child.
Dylan convinces Sally to go to a party to "Rage", where Sally discovers that ghosts can take over living people's bodies if they are willing or in a weaker state of mind. Sally relishes in the fact that she can eat, drink, and feel things, again, until Dylan tries to make a move on her in their stolen bodies. Sally refuses and Stevie pulls them out of their bodies to help her, before causing Dylan to disintegrate entirely. Josh decides to drop out of medical school, and try to find a cure for his and Nora's condition instead. Aidan discovers Suren has turned Cecelia, and she tells him he will do everything to make her the best so he can be free of Mother. Sally fears that she now knows that ghosts can permanently destroy each other, but Nora convinces her that it is better to know what one is capable of, with her remembering that she did kill Heggeman as the wolf.
The Spot News: First pic of James Bond in Skyfall
The Spot News: Spidey in The Avengers?
Joss Whedon being the director and writer for The Avengers movie, that's the best source possible to have when it comes to a news item like this. Spider-Man has been featured as an Avenger in comics before, so it's not a complete surprise that he would be featured. But the word cameo is used, and that gets you wondering. The Avengers film comes out before The Amazing Spider-Man, if those stories are connected in any way. Marvel is also famous for putting a lot of "spoiler-ish" type scenes at the end of their films, maybe it's a set-up? I hope so!
UPDATE: Joss Whedon has apparently denied that Spider-Man will have a cameo in The Avengers and that the news was broken by actress Jenny Agutter, who has a role in the film. I guess that squashes the idea, but I wouldn't really rule it out.
