The Spot News: Prometheus First Look

The Spot News: Prometheus First Look

Entertainment Weekly has debuted the official first look at Prometheus, the much-discussed 3D space thriller that marks a return to sci-fi for Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott.

Written by Lost‘s Damon Lindelof and The Darkest Hour’s Jon Spaihts, the $100 million Fox film has a connection to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien. As the director himself said earlier this month, the last few minutes of Prometheus morph into “a pretty good DNA of the Alien one.”

While stopping short of calling the film an Alien prequel, star Michael Fassbender tells EW, “There’s definitely a link to Alien. There’s creatures in it that you’ll recognize.”

Also starring Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace, the top-secret epic follows a team of scientists whose spaceship Prometheus becomes stranded on a distant planet. The film opens Jun

The Walking Dead - Small Screen Review

Episode Seven - Pretty Much Dead Already

Glenn reveals to the group about the walkers in the barn, and everyone goes nuts wanting to go in and kill them, especially Shane. Rick discusses the matter with Hershel, trying to convince him to let the group stay, especially since his wife is pregnant. Hershel wants them out by the end of the week. Even going as far as saying that he gave them a place to stay and helped them; his conscience is clear.

Meanwhile, Dale tries but fails to hide Shane's guns in the swamp. Another confrontation between them with rifle cocked and aimed at Shane’s chest. Dale submits and tells Shane off telling him that he deserves to be here in this world now. Hershel asks Rick to help him recover some walkers stuck in thick swamp mud, and tells him that his group can stay so long as they do not shoot the walkers (Hershel believes they are sick, and not dead).

As they return, Shane sees the captured walkers and goes berserk. And I mean berserk. After killing the new walkers and telling everyone that these things can’t be human anymore or cured if they can be shot and still be standing. Shane breaks open the barn door, allowing the walkers within to pour out. The group shoots them all. The last walker to emerge from the barn is Sophia. All goes quiet with the group not able to say or lift their guns. They were able to kill Hershel’s dead people but can’t do it when it is one of their own. Rick finally steps up and shoots her in the head. Ending the mid-season finale and leaving us waiting for the return in February.

Episode Six - “Secrets”

Lori discovers she is pregnant and tries to abort it with pills because she is afraid of bringing a baby into the situation. The group practices on their shooting skills and Andrea has the best skills out of them. Lori sends Glenn and Maggie to the pharmacy to get some things for her including abortion pills not knowing there is a walker present there, Maggie gets attacked. Glenn kills it and in a fury Maggie yells at Lori for almost getting Glenn and her killed. Maggie also reveals that the walkers inside the barn are family members.

Herschel explains to Dale that the walkers are "still people"; that they are merely sick and are being contained so that they can be cured in the future. Shane and Andrea go out to look for Sophia only to be surrounded by walkers. Andrea and Shane take them out and flee, and on the way back they have sex. When they arrive at camp, Shane creates tension with Dale when Dale asks what really happened the night Otis died. The episode ends with Lori and Rick debating about their unborn child and Lori confessing to being in a sexual relationship with Shane when she thought Rick was dead.

Episode Five - Chupacabra

The survivors continue to search for Sophia, but Hershel is growing increasingly concerned about their presence on his land. Shane and Rick argue over whether to continue the search, with Shane arguing that it's time to cut their losses and leave. Rick is angry with him but later begins to wonder whether he is right. While out searching for Sophia, Daryl finds her doll but subsequently falls off a ridge, and is badly injured. A vision of his brother Merle gives him the strength to fight off two approaching walkers and return to the farm, where he is accidentally shot by Andrea and wounded. Glenn leaves a note for Maggie asking her to meet him for a sexual encounter in the barn. A horrified Maggie attempts to stop him, but she is unable to prevent him discovering that the barn is full of walkers.

Not liking how slow this season has been so far. And I feel like episode two was a total waste of an episode. Still more searching for Sophia, Still tension between our group and Hershel. At least now we know why he wants them out so badly. I think I mentioned it before but I totally understand that this is not just a zombie show it is our group of survivors handling being in a zombie run world. But it still doesn’t mean the show has to be a total bore.

Episode Nine - "How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters"

Following up on a possible sighting of the 'Jersey Devil', Sam, Dean and Bobby attempt to figure out what monster is out killing campers in a local town, while staying off the grid to avoid being tracked by the Leviathan. During their research, Dean tries a new Turducken burger at a local burger joint, after he and Sam interview the local sheriff, who seems rather unfazed about the recent killings.

The three hunters decide to hunt down the creature, coming across the remains of another sheriff who went missing recently. Calling in the new sheriff, he is also taken by the mystery creature; the creature is eventually shot by Bobby. The hunters soon learn that the monster is actually a vicious, hyperadrenalized human-zombie. As they discover this finding, Dean exhibits similar 'stoned' symptoms as the sheriff had.

Eventually, Sam and Bobby realize that the cause behind Dean's mind-dulling (and that of most of the burger joint patrons) is the Turducken sandwich, which ends up secreting a grey substance similar to what was within the hyper-zombie. Following the meat to the supplier, the hunters inadvertently discover the base of operations for the Leviathan. It is discovered that the Leviathan were working on a food additive designed to render humans complacent and mindless, potentially for ease of world domination.

However, the leader, Dick, appears and closes the project down because the adverse side effects - zombified humans - made headlines, which is something Dick wants to ensure does not happen to keep humans in the dark about their presence. He also dispatches the lead scientist Leviathan, Dr. Gaines, by placing a bib around his neck, which somehow forces Dr. Gaines to eat himself. Bobby, watching everything, is then attacked by another Leviathan and brought to Dick, who reveals that he plans on eating Bobby in the future, but plans to use him to lure in Sam and Dean. The brothers break into the facility and free Bobby, spraying down the Leviathan with chemical water to incapacitate and stall them. They then make their escape, with Dick attempting to shoot at the van. Seemingly safe, the brothers discover, to their horror, that Bobby has been shot by one of Dick's bullets.

Revenge- Small Screen Review

Revenge- Small Screen Review

Season So Far

I want to apologize for being so behind on the reviews for Revenge. Hopefully doing the review like this: giving short episode summaries and talking about the show a bit so far will help so then next episode I can do a full review.

Along with The Secret Circle, Revenge has been a seriously decent new series this season. I decided to watch a couple of episodes to see how it is and was hooked. I love the (obvious) revenge aspect and the lengths that Emily will go to achieve her goal in ruining those that ruined and destroyed her family. You would think that the concept would get old after a couple of episodes yet here we get layers added and twists and turns that capture the attention of the viewer and keeps them glued to the screen. Now we all know how things are going to unfold since we saw the “ending” during the first episode and what we are currently watching are the steps and road taken to that outcome.

The characters have great chemistry between them and although some are younger actors and actresses they perform like a seasoned cast. Now along with the addition of the problematic and hustler Tyler to the cast and the real Emily Thorne. I also didn’t expect the twist between Tyler and Nolan. Nolan finding out about Tyler being a gay hustler and then Nolan taking advantage of it and sleeping with him.

Episode 4 - Duplicity

Emily moves on to her next target, Dr. Michelle Banks (Amy Landecker), a psychiatrist who is responsible for institutionalizing her while her father was in prison. Daniel sees Emily having dinner with Jack and, heartbroken, goes on a drinking binge with Tyler (Ashton Holmes). Charlotte and Declan get to know each other better and Conrad pays Lydia a secret visit.

Episode 5 - Guilt

Lydia returns to the Hamptons wanting her house back from Emily as well as wanting to return in the inner circle of the Hamptons women, just in time to take part in the annual Flight 197 victims fundraiser. Nolan puts a hidden camera in Emily's house which then gets shipped to Lydia's apartment, with Nolan finding out that Lydia is beginning to suspect Emily.

Episode 6 - Intrigue
Emily and Nolan send the surveillance video of Frank trying to kill Lydia (who is now in a coma) to Conrad, who fires Frank and demands he stay away from Victoria. Jack acts on his feelings for Emily, who rejects him. Tyler drugs Daniel on his first night working at Jack's bar.
Episode 7 - Charade

When a high-profile newspaper article interrupts the Graysons' quiet plans, their 25th anniversary dinner becomes explosive. Frank unearths information about Emily's past in an attempt to prove his devotion to Victoria and meets the faux Amanda Clarke (Margarita Levieva).

Episode 8 - Treachery

Faux Amanda Clarke reveals that she has murdered Frank with the police later suspecting Emily's connections. Victoria allows Lydia to stay in the house to jog her memories. Conrad and Victoria agree to separate which affects Charlotte.

Episode 9 Review - "Balcoin"

Mid-Season Finale

Cassie's hoping to discover more about her lineage and why she has powers separate from the Circle, she brought Jake with her and look into her father's side of the family. Meanwhile, Faye reveals that Jake might be hiding something dangerous from them so Adam becomes protective of Cassie. At the same time, Adam's equally concerned when Melissa's cousin Holden comes to town and catches Diana's eye. A power shift forms between Charles and Dawn that threatens to destroy their plan.

Faye made it her personal mission to expose Jake. And expose him she did, with a little help from Adam who had his own motivations for keeping Cassie and Jake apart.
Knowing he couldn’t get too close to Cassie, Jake tried to push her away with a simple “I’m not interested” when she asked him about the obvious spark between them. But after creepily staring at her through her bedroom window, he had a change of heart and decided to escort her to the maritime gala.

But even Jake’s feelings for Cassie couldn’t keep her from getting kidnapped by his merry band of witch hunters. After much convincing Jake eventually teamed up with Faye and Adam to rescue Cassie, at which point he and Adam fought over which of them got the pleasure of saving her. Adam ultimately got the honor of playing Cassie’s knight in shining armor, while Jake stayed behind and learned a shocking secret: Cassie is “not the only child of Blackwell in the circle.” It seems it might end up being Faye all for the fact it is somewhat alluded too earlier when Cassie’s grandmother mentions that Dawn had a thing for Blackwell (Cassie’s dad). Great finale cliffhanger.

Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Vampire Diaries - Small Screen Review

Episodes 9 Review - "Homecoming"

Mid-Season Finale

Stefan calls Klaus to tell him that Michael is dead. When Klaus inquires for further information, we flash back an hour to Stefan, Damon, and Elena plotting how to get Klaus back to Mystic Falls so Michael can kill him. Michael volunteers to be stabbed so that Klaus will see his dead body. As Elena is the only non-vampire, she is the only one who can do it. Flash back to present, Klaus says he wants to see the body, reminds Stefan that he’s compelled, and Stefan confirms that Michael is really dead. Klaus wants to talk to Rebekah, who also confirms the story. She also tells Klaus she misses him, a further lure to get him back to Mystic Falls. It works. Klaus is “coming home.” Elena removes the dagger from Michael’s chest.

Rebekah is dressed for the dance, and when Elena walks in, Rebekah confides in her that this is her first high school dance. Rebekah is having a bit of a crisis, since she’s spent her entire life both loving and hating Klaus, and now she’s helping to end his life completely. Elena returns Rebekah’s necklace to her, and Rebekah starts crying as she sees it on her. The moment is really quite sweet. Until Elena stabs Rebekah with the dagger, apologizing, but stating, “I can’t leave anything to chance either.”

Bonne and Caroline walk into Tyler’s house party, which looks incredibly well put together, especially considering he’s only had hours to do it. When Stefan tells Tyler he’s impressed with the party, Tyler tells Stefan it’s Klaus’ party. Only it’s not a party, it’s a wake. Matt and Elena walk into the party together. She tells them Klaus is here, and they’re not really surprised. Elena walks off to find Bonnie, and Matt goes off for a drink.
Stefan and Klaus are walking through the party, and Klaus says he can now reunite his family. Klaus inquires as to Rebekah’s whereabouts, and Stefan honestly doesn’t know where she is. Stefan offers to bring Klaus to the body, but Klaus wants the body brought to him. Stefan tries to negotiate his freedom from compulsion, but Klaus says not until Michael’s body and the weapon are destroyed.

Michael shows Damon the stake. Michael admits that he prefers vampire blood to human blood. Stefan walks in and says that Klaus has thrown a wrench in their plan. When Stefan inquires about the new plan, Damon says it doesn’t involve him – and Michael lunges on Stefan and feeds on him. Guess Stefan will be out of the loop for a little while.

Klaus and Tyler are chatting, and Klaus tells Tyler that he’s invited a huge contingent of hybrids to this party. Quite a large number of bodyguards. He smells treachery, and isn’t going to go down without taking a few humans/vampires/witches with him. Tyler corners Caroline and asks what they’re up to with Klaus. Caroline honestly doesn’t know, so when Tyler tries to warn her and accuses her of lying to him, Caroline bristles. As Caroline tries to leave and go back to the party, Tyler injects her with something – presumably vervain.

Klaus comes up to Elena and ‘thanks’ her for killing Michael. He also says she seems nervous, and she counters with “I’m not nervous. I just don’t like you.” Klaus semi-warns her that whatever plan they have won’t work. Elena looks uncomfortable. Damon enters the party by ripping out a hybrid’s heart. Tyler tells Matt he has to get Caroline out of the party because if something happens to Klaus, he’ll have no choice but to protect Klaus. As Tyler is coming down the stairs, Damon grabs him and throws him into the next room. They tussle. Bonnie comes in and “witchy-migraines” them. Tyler collapses, and Bonnie lets up. Damon has the stake that can kill Klaus.

Klaus’ hybrids tell him Michael is at the door. When Klaus goes to greet his father, the hybrids begin to line up behind him, ready to attack. Michael isn’t particularly nervous, because they can’t kill him, but I doubt it will be a fun past time… Klaus says as much, and Michael reminds him that even though the hybrids were sired by Klaus, they’re still part-vampire, and as such, Michael can compel them. To prove this point, Michael has one of the hybrids bring a struggling Elena up to the front. Michael is trying to get Klaus to come outside, or he’ll kill Elena. He’s trying to goad Klaus into stepping outside the house, and it looks like he might succeed. But then Klaus says he’s calling Michael’s bluff. They’re at a bit of a stale mate. Klaus is almost crying as he’s screaming t Michael, “kill her.” Michael sticks a dagger in Elena as Damon pounces on Klaus from behind and attempts to stake him. While they’re tussling, Stefan lunges at Damon, knocking the stake free. As Katherine (a ha, I knew it) tosses wolfsbane grenades at the hybrids, Klaus picks up the stake, jumps outside, and stakes Michael. Stake and Michael go up in flames. Damon is incredulous that Stefan just ruined this, and Klaus happily frees Stefan from his compulsion. You can see the humanity come crashing down around Stefan’s ears.

Caroline comes to in her bedroom, as Tyler walks in and asks if she’s ok. He semi-contritely apologizes for stabbing her, trying to explain it’s all he could do to get her out of there. He knows she never would’ve left willingly. But Caroline is really distressed that Tyler is fully sired to Klaus. She doesn’t understand how he can be ok with this, and Tyler tells her it’s because he’s better. They sort of break up.

Katherine calls Damon, to “Say goodbye”. Stefan is in the car with her.
We flash back to Stefan on the floor after Michael bit him, and Katherine is feeding him a bag of blood. We flash further back, and we see the end of the conversation between Katherine and Klaus where he says she seems nervous. Klaus tells Katherine (who he thinks is Elena) that if he dies, Damon dies too. Once we’re back to Stefan on the floor drinking the bag of blood, Katherine tells him that Damon dies if Klaus dies. Katherine tells Stefan that if he leaves his humanity off, Damon will die. She tries to guilt him into caring enough to safe Damon’s life.

Back in the car, Katherine tells Stefan that she was trying to save Stefan’s humanity by saving Damon, because she likes the old Stefan better. She admits to sometimes letting her own humanity back in. Stefan says he doesn’t want to let his humanity back in, not after everything he’s done. And Katherine tells him of course she doesn’t want him to, but unless he does, he won’t be able to do what’s next.

Klaus is calling Rebekah, who’s cell phone is lying next to her semi-dead body. Stefan calls Klaus to tell him he’s pissed. Stefan tells Klaus the one thing that never gets old is revenge, as Klaus opens the van where he’s been toting around his family’s coffins – only now Stefan has them. Klaus threatens to kill everyone Stefan has ever met, and Stefan counters that he’ll make it so that Klaus will never see his family again if he does. “I wonder, Klaus, as someone who’s been one step ahead for a thousand years, are you prepared for this?”

Episode Six - “Piggy Piggy
"

We finally see what happened with Tate and the school shooting years ago. After Violet confirms online that Tate was killed after his massacre (shot by a SWAT team in the house), Constance introduces her to a medium, Billie Dean (Sarah Paulson) and she and Constance explain that Tate is unaware he is dead. Constance has been sending him to Ben, hoping a breakthrough will help him pass on and they need Violet’s help, though Violet is shaken by the revelation.

Ben needs to use the house for his therapy sessions to make them money, and Vivien agrees out of necessity. Ben sees a new patient, Derek (Eric Stonestreet), who is terrified by the urban legend of “Piggy Man”, who will slaughter anyone who repeats a specific line in the mirror (think Bloody Mary yet more disturbing especially since we get a jump scare view of him). Ben also begins noticing that Vivien has developed a personal relationship with the security officer.

Constance and Moira help Vivien with the pregnancy, preparing healthy foods for her in the form of sweetbreads and other organ meats. Though initially disgusted with the dishes, Vivien develops a ravenous appetite toward them, which disturbs her. She contacts the ultrasound technician who fainted during the ultrasound, who has quit her job and claims she saw that the baby was the Anitchrist.

Taking Ben’s advice to face his fear, Derek repeats the Piggy Man lines in his bathroom mirror, but is ironically shot and killed by an armed robber hiding in his shower. Violet tries to confront Tate in the basement, but is mobbed by the other ghosts. Overwhelmed, she attempts suicide, but Tate saves her. Tate tearfully confesses that he loves her and cannot understand why she has turned cold toward him. He plans to leave her alone, but she comforts him. Constance speaks to Addie through Billie, and receives closure, but learns that Addie is glad she was not revived as a ghost and that she now fears Tate, knowing what he did.

Outside, the teens find Tate and Violet, but Tate protects Violet by making them chase him. Constance grabs Violet and takes her to her house, revealing that Addie is dead and that Tate is her son. A patrol officer (Morris Chestnut) arrives, hearing the house alarm and arrests Hayden. The teens catch up with Tate at the beach and are revealed to be ghosts from various cliques at Westview High who were killed when Tate seemingly committed a school shooting about seventeen years ago. The ghosts angrily demand to know why he killed them and that he admit what he did, but Tate cannot remember anything about them. With Halloween night ending, the teens depart. The other ghosts including Moira, Chad, Patrick, and Nora warily return to the house discussing their time away. After discussing the nature of love with the officer, Hayden disappears from his car. Ben packs and sadly leaves the house.

So ends a really odd and crazy episode of American Horror Story. This show gets better and better with each episode.

Episode 8 Review - "Ordinary People"

That was a history lesson and a half as we learn the origin of the Original family and how they came to be the Original vampires. Having to reveal this much information might have been a drag, but thanks to the always good Vampire Diaries flashbacks and Rebekah (Claire Holt) as a narrator this was far from a bore. It also helped that this amount of exposition was combined with a separate Damon and Stefan story. This once again showed how great these two are together and how much this dynamic has been absent for most of this season.

Elena's plan to have a "mean girl power struggle" with Rebekah actually worked in getting her to spill her. Elena has spent enough time around vampires to know how to manipulate the conversation to her advantage, all that time playing Katherine's mind games has paid off as she got Rebekah to reveal all the important details.

Protecting family is the key theme of their backstory- first from disease in Europe, followed by the predators in the US (long before it was the US). Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is at the heart of all of this as it was his intrigue about the werewolves that led to his younger brother being killed, which in turn led to the creation of vampires. No wonder Klaus turned out the way he did, that's a lot of guilt right there. The big reveal in this story about how they became vampires isn't that Mikael (Sebastian Roché) is their father, as this is something I think most had guessed. The big surprise is that their mother Esther (Alice Evans) was a witch and not just any witch, but the witch from the Original family. It is her talisman, which she received from another powerful witch that has been the source of much of this seasons bother.

The even bigger twist was not in the version of the story that Rebekah told, Rebekah believed that her father had killed her mother by ripping out her heart, but in reality it was Klaus. This destroys the 1000 year relationship and unsurprisingly turns Rebekah into a sobbing heap. How will she react when she sees her brother again? Which won’t take too long considering Mikael has threatened Stefan and Damon in order to bring Klaus back.

Episode 6 - "Slash Fiction"

Sam and Dean are framed for a series of murder-robberies by two Leviathan that take the forms of the Winchester brothers. Bobby tries to figure out how to kill the Leviathan using the one they have hostage, while Sam and Dean take refuge with a surveillance expert, who gives them temporary identities to evade authorities. The brothers try to stop the two Leviathans and track them across the country, discovering that the Leviathan are committing the crimes in every town the brothers have visited since Sam left college.

Meanwhile, Bobby continues to try and find a way to stop the Leviathan, finding that decapitation works. However, with the head in close proximity, it eventually re-attaches itself. The brothers eventually find the Leviathan in Iowa but are arrested by local law enforcement. Bobby gets a visit from Sheriff Jody Mills, who offers to clean up the cabin and cook some food for Bobby. While cleaning, however, some soapy water spills onto the Leviathan, causing serious burns. Bobby gives the hostage Leviathan's severed head to Jody, telling her to dump it. Soon after, Dean, given a phone call, contacts Bobby and manages to learn how to at least stall the Leviathan.

The local sheriff eventually helps Sam and Dean when he sees the Leviathan eating one of the officers and turning into Sam and Dean. Sam, in an interrogation room, is confronted by the Leviathan Dean, who reveals Dean's killing of the kitsune, Amy. Dean and the sheriff manage to decapitate the Sam Leviathan, and then the Dean Leviathan shortly after, keeping the heads with them to prevent re-attachment.
Afterward Sam confronts Dean about Amy's death, telling him he can't talk to him right now, leaving Dean alone. Meanwhile, one of the Leviathan, disguised as an FBI agent, contacts his superior - a man named Dick Roman - about the recent failure. Crowley then appears to Dick in an effort to build a partnership, but Roman harshly turns Crowley down, considering demons to be even more pathetic than humans, and hinting that he wouldn't mind wiping them off the face of the Earth.

Episode 7- "The Mentalists"

Sam and Dean discover that an angry spirit is killing off resident mediums in Lily Dale, the most "psychic" town in America, but with a town full of people claiming to be summoning spirits, they have some trouble finding the true medium who's controlling the ghost.

The Walking Dead - Small Screen Review

The Walking Dead - Small Screen Review

Episode Three - Save The Last One

Hershel tells Lori and Rick that he might need to perform Carl's surgery without anesthesia if Shane and Otis do not return soon. Daryl and Andrea return to the forest to find Sophia. The search leads to Daryl share an insightful childhood memory. In the woods, the two come upon a walker hanging from a tree, which they kill after a friendly debate.

Glenn and T-Dog arrive at the Greene home, where T-Dog's injury is treated while Glenn and Maggie talk about faith. Lori contemplates letting Carl die to end his suffering, while Rick holds to the belief that Carl may yet live in a better future. Meanwhile, Shane and Otis fight to escape the high school, only to face more walkers at every turn. An injured Shane betrays Otis to escape the walkers, and returns to the Greene home just in time for Carl's surgery. Shane misleads everyone about Otis's death and destroys the only clue that he himself was responsible, having shot Otis in the leg.

Episode Four - Cherokee Rose

Dale, Daryl, Andrea and Carol arrive at the Greene home and set up camp as Carl recovers. Since Shane is still injured and Rick is weak from blood loss, Daryl decides to search alone for Sophia. He does not find Sophia, but instead finds a Cherokee Rose (a Native American sign in which children were protected), and gives it to Carol. Hershel takes Rick on a tour; he then tells him that he should leave the property after Carl heals and they find Sophia.

Rick begs Hershel to reconsider that they leave; the latter will think about letting them stay if they follow certain guidelines. Dale and T-Dog decide to retrieve water from a nearby well, although they realize that there is a walker inside. Since the survivors cannot kill it for it might infect the water further, they decide to use Glenn as bait to lure the walker out of the well. They succeed, but due to the moisture from the well, the walker's legs and internal organs spill back in the well, infecting the water; T-Dog then kills the walker. Maggie and Glenn decide to head to a local pharmacy, where Maggie offers to have sex with Glenn. Glenn retrieves a pregnancy test, requested by Lori; Lori uses it and realizes that she is pregnant.

Pretty much nothing happens or better yet I can say the same things happen but different situations; the past three episodes. Now I do not mind that at all. This is a drama with zombies and drama comes first but the last three episodes all feel like the same thing given to us. To me they could have cut it down to two episodes worth and then give us something different in the fourth. Thankfully it seems the story with pick up next episode.

Episode 5 - "Shut Up, Dr. Phil"

Sam and Dean find cases of individuals meeting gruesome deaths in a small town. Several of the crime scenes contain ancient Romanian coins, acting as hexed objects. The brothers learn that each victim was connected to Donald Stark (James Marsters), a wealthy businessman, philanthropist and pillar of the community. While Donald assures the brothers that the business deal he and the victims had nothing to do with their deaths.
Sam searches the house and discovers that Donald's wife, Maggie (Charisma Carpenter), is a powerful witch who is currently separating from Donald. In the process, Maggie is killing people connected to 'helping' Donald set up a fling with one of the victims.

Heading to Maggie's house, Sam and Dean learn that Donald's receptionist is next, and manage to save her before Maggie's curse kills her. Later on it is revealed that Donald himself is a witch, as he uses his powers to destroy Maggie's auction paintings and decapitate her best friend. When Sam and Dean realize this, they wait for the two to meet at Donald's house, then try to kill them using a spell with chicken feet. The spell fails, and Sam suggests they counsel the witches on their failing marriage to prevent them from killing Dean and himself.

Although they manage to counsel the witches, they are summarily thrown around and beaten for seeming to side with the other party, until Dean is able to say that Donald never tried to have a relationship with his receptionist. The two witches reconcile their love, and Sam and Dean leave with their lives. At the hotel Sam and Dean are confronted by one of the Leviathan, who had been tracking them for days. After almost killing Sam, the Leviathan is rendered unconscious by a spell from Donald, who had dropped by to save the brothers' lives (initially) from Maggie's coin curses. Sam and Dean bind up the Leviathan for transport to Bobby's, in order to determine how to defeat the new monsters.

A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas Review

By: Robert Acosta

Cast:
John Cho as Harold
Kal Penn as Kumar
Paula Garces as Maria
Danny Trejo as Carlos

Plot: Once best friends, Harold and Kumar are now leading completely opposite lives. Harold has become a successful businessman while Kumar is out of med school and still high out of his mind. The spirit of Christmas brings them back together, only to get caught in some more crazy situations.

Review: A movie I long awaited, could not wait to see, Harold and Kumar still deliver. It certainly has a different look and feel to it compared to the first two parts. That could be because it was in 3D and I saw it in an RPX theater...whatever that means. But more than that, it wasn't the epic trip all the place like we've come to expect. But that doesn't mean it's any less effective.

It's a couple of years after Guantanamo Bay and Harold and Kumar have split. Harold has a nice house, a wife and is thinking of making a family. Kumar is smoking. And smoking. And smoking. By some Christmas magic, they meet again and almost right away, things start going hilariously wrong. Once again, Harold must clean up another mess and Kumar must do his best to help him.

Running at very short 90 minutes, HK3 sure does pack in a lot of stuff. It almost seems outrageously random what they get into in such a short time..and if it does...that's because it is. From a lovely home to a party to beer pong to nearly bring killed to waffle bots and Neil Patrick Harris and much much more. Is this the funniest Harold and Kumar, maybe.

The comedy is still there. Most people may not realize this but the first HK movie was back in 2004. They've done a great job of spacing out the movies and being able to keep the movies fresh, something most comedy sequels and trilogies have a hard time of doing. The comedy is just as crude as ever and 3D somehow makes things funnier. Dick jokes and smoking never looked or sounded better. Actually the cool smoke effect they had going was awesome. Neil Patrick Harris is a nice touch as well. But overall, it's John Cho and Kal Penn who are gods of buddie comedies. This generations Cheech and Chong, they are the heroes.

Like I said, the 3D is really fun. It must have been shot in 3D because it's the best looking movie in 3D this year. Never thought i'd see the day where I would say a comedy movie is the best looking 3D movie. On top of that, they take good shots at the whole idea of 3D that it brings out the greatness of 3D, when done correctly.

You've got your cameos/small roles from guys like Bobby Lee, Danny Trejo, Thomas Lennon, Patton Oswalt and Amir Blumenfeld. Also, the great return Eddie Kaye Thomas and David Krumholtz, the two jewish friends of Harold and Kumar from the first films.

Overall, the film is packed with hilarious moments, lots of memorable scenes and it's a damn Harold and Kumar movie. How can you not have fun!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

November Movie Releases

By: Robert Acosta

It's been a while since The Movie Spot has done this, and we certainly want to get back on track with letting you know what movies are coming out and what you may want to see or miss within the months. There is certainly a lot going on this month, both good and bad. Let's take a look:

NOTE: Bold means that movie is a limited release

November 4th:
  • A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas 3D
  • Tower Heist
  • The Son of No One
  • Killing Bono
  • Goethe (Playing in LA and NYC only)
November 11th:
  • Immortals
  • J.Edgar (Comes out November 9th)
  • Jack and Jill
  • Melancholia (LA and NYC only)
  • 11-11-11
  • London Boulevard
  • Into the Abyss
November 18th
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
  • Happy Feet Two
  • The Descendants
  • Tyrannosaur (LA/NYC)
  • Another Happy Day (LA/NYC)
November 23rd (Thanksgiving Week)
  • The Muppets
  • Hugo
  • A Dangerous Method
  • Arthur Christmas
  • My Week with Marilyn
  • The Artist

A lot of great stuff coming out this month, lots of cant miss movies with some questionable watches along the way.

In the first week, you've got two nice comedies coming out, on different sides of comedy really. The next chapter in the Harold and Kumar series is coming and I expect it to be raunchier than ever with the 3D release. It looks like it's shot in 3D so that may be a huge plus for it. One movie I certainly won't miss. Also, Tower Heist comes out bolstering a cast of big time actors like Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck and Matthew Broderick. Don't expect it to be as funny as Harold and Kumar but it should still be a worth a look.

Every year there is a movie based around Greek mythology and it usually ends up being pretty good and Immortals is on that very same track. Future Superman, Henry Cavill is starring so it may be something to watch if you're into either Greek mythology or the future of the Superman franchise. Another Adam Sandler film where he casts his friends in roles and provides lackluster stories is on the way. Won't lie when I say that the trailer got some chuckles out of me, but I may end up seeing this for free...or HBO in a year.

Many teenage girls are awaiting November 18th, as a crucial (but unfortunately not final) part to the Twilight series coming. The trailer suggests that a lot happens. I really wouldn't know the whole story of what does happen, but i'm sure Twilight fans will patch that story up for me. Another somewhat useless movie in this month, Happy Feet Two. Sure, Happy Feet was a hit, and it was inevitable that a sequel was coming (though I thought maybe a lot sooner). Nonetheless, kids and some adults will enjoy the cash cow that is Happy Feet Two.

The last week brings two events i've been waiting all year for. Thanksgiving and The Muppets movie. I wouldn't want a Muppets movie if it was half assed but this looks to be phenomenal. Jason Segal and Amy Adams are two great actors, and the list of cameos involved should really enhance the film. Also, it's the damn Muppets!
