Nowhere Boy Review

By: Robert Acosta

Cast:
Aaron Johnson as John Lennon
Kristin Scott Thomas as Mimi Lennon
Anne-Marie Duff as Julia Lennon
Thomas-Brodie Sangster as Paul McCartney

Plot: Nowhere Boy reveals John Lennons teenage years, growing up in Liverpool, England. Lennon's rollercoaster relationship with family is shown and makes him the man, the visionary he ended up being.

Review: John Lennon is one of the more influential people that has ever walked the face of the earth. You can't interview a musician and talked about their influences without them mentioning The Beatles or John Lennon specifically.

There have been attempts at documentaries or movies about Lennon, most have failed. Nowhere Boy doesn't fail but it doesn't shine either. It does good enough to be watched and slightly respected.

It pretty much follows Lennon in his teenage years, struggling in school, not really caring about too much and having very strained relationships with his aunt and mother. The quarrymen are born, the band that eventually led to the creation of The Beatles, and both Paul McCartney and George Harrison are featured. Just so you get an idea of the timeline were dealing with.

Aaron Johnson does a very good job of playing Lennon, felt like I was watching Lennon in real life. To be honest, the acting was great, maybe one of the more solid parts of the film. From the characters of the aunt, mother, McCartney and John himself, it was fantastic.

The movie would be higher in my book if it were accurate, and more than once source is telling me that this movie isn't fully accurate. Compared to the other John Lennon movie I saw, In His Life: The John Lennon Story, that story felt a bit more believable.

Overall, it's still worth the watch. Nothing too spectacular, no formation of The Beatles, just the John Lennon, the Quarrymen and an interesting, though not fully accurate, story.

Rating: 3 out of 5

The Spot News: Gareth Edwards Talks Godzilla

The Spot News: Gareth Edwards Talks Godzilla

Everyone is excited to see what Gareth Edwards (MONSTERS) will do with his upcoming version of GODZILLA, and Empire recently spoke to the filmmaker about the project. There's not really much new information, but monster movie fans will still enjoy hearing what he has to say:
"The thing that's so interesting is that Godzilla has evolved since the original one in the '50s, so there is the opportunity to bring it up to date. But we want to stay true to the fanbase as well and I'm a fan of the Toho films."
"When I got the call about it from my agent I was in my bedroom and right in front of me by my DVD player was the 1954 GODZILLA. He asked, 'Are you a fan?' And I said, 'Yeah, I'm looking at him right now!' It was incredible."
Sounds like the project, produced by Legendary Pictures, is in safe hands.

The Spot News: Will Sasso and the Three Stooges

By: Robert Acosta

Not exactly the title you thought you'd ever be reading, right?

Well there could be some truth to it. According to THR, Will Sasso is in the running for not just one stooge role but is being considered for all three of the Three Stooges.

Personally, I can see him as Curly. Borderline Moe. Hell no as Larry. I could get behind this movie if he plays Curly, may be one of the best candidates for the job. Moe, i'd have to be convinced.

I'm still sticking by my original opinion of the film. If this isn't being taken seriously, then don't do it. Don't make a mockery of some of the funniest guys in the history of comedy. The kings of slapstick comedy need to be portrayed right or not at all.

Sorry there is no side by side photo of Curly and Sasso, but you can still compare the 2 photos above and get the idea.

The Spot News: Genndy Tartakovsky Taking Over The Hotel Transylvania?

The Spot News: Genndy Tartakovsky Taking Over The Hotel Transylvania?

According to Bleedingcool.com

The bad news is that Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Sym-Bionic Titan is coming to an end. The TAG Blog quote a “Cartoon Network insider” who tells them that the show has been axed:
Genddy’s moved on to Sony Pictures Animation. Titan got competitive ratings with other action shows, but what shut it down was it didn’t have enough toys connected to it. If you don’t have the, the studios don’t want to renew for another season.
That is bad news. But the germ of the good news is in there too:
Genddy’s moved on to Sony Pictures Animation.
There’s more info in the comments attached to the same blog post. An anonymous user says:
Not to piss all over you TV peeps but the bigger story here is that Genddy is at Sony Pictures Animation on Hotel Transylvania. Hotel Transylvania has had more directors attached to it than I can count – David Fiess, Jill Culton, Chris Jenkins, Tony Stacci, and most recently Todd Wilderman (who walked off the project to head to DWA where he’s a story guy). WTF is going on with that project?

Here’s an old blurb for the project, though it may be about to change under Tartakovsky’s watch:
A group of classic monsters including Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula and the Werewolf who are hiding out in a hotel on the outskirts of Transylvania now that 21st century technology has seemingly made them irrelevant.
Simon Van Helsing, the youngest in a long line of monster hunters. The last thing Van Helsing wants to do is fall in love with Dracula’s Daughter, Mavis. Upon discovering that they are natural enemies, the doomed couple attempts to bring peace between monsters and humans. In the end, each family will have some new blood.

The Spot News: Mr. Popper's Penguins trailer

By: Robert Acosta

Jim Carrey has seemingly floated along, not doing too many noteworthy things but still remaining in the general public. He's done some limited release films lately, along with a good SNL episode. The Spot News: American Pie Reunion

By: Robert Acosta

This post will serve as a double post in a way, both reporting the return of the original American Pie cast into a new film while also telling you the name and basic plot of the next film. Sounds like a lot to handle. We got this.

So after countless straight to DVD releases under the American Pie name, the originals are back. Not to say that the DVD ones were terrible, but we can all agree that the original cast is what we want to see.

The next American Pie will be called....American Reunion. Can't be any more straight forward can it?

What's Playing was able to grab some basic plot points:

1. The whole gang are returning to East Great Falls for their ten-year Highschool reunion (made possible thanks to Facebook). They’ll come near and far to remember the good times - only to be faced with the frightening realization that they’re no longer young teenagers.

2. Oz has hit the big time as a contestant on a Dancing with the Stars-type show. He also lives in a pricey Malibu mansion. He returns home a big-shot.

3. Stifler isn’t doing well - he’s working as a temp for a rude boss that refers to him as ‘his bitch’. He’s also not having a lot of luck with the ladies. Still, he’s excited to get back home and do some partying.

4. Jim’s next-door neighbor Kara, now all grown-up (!), develops a crush on the married man. Can Jim resist her? Can he keep his marriage to Michelle in one piece?

5. Marco wants to kill Jim. He’s been dating Kara for quite a while but now his woman only has eyes for the “pie f*cker”!

6. Upon returning home Stifler scores with Laurie, a former hotttie now 80 pounds heavier. Thoughtful as ever, Stifler lets her know he’ll be turning the lights off for their lovemaking session.

7. Jim is a YouTube sensation these days - everyone knows his little performance piece from the ’90s with Nadia!

8. Oz’s girlfriend Mia - seemingly with him for his money only - decides to join him at the reunion. Meanwhile, Oz’s ex-Heather brings with her to town her new boyfriend, a forty-something surgeon, who tries to act younger.

9. Stifler is supposed to be working on the weekend of the reunion and attempts to keep up the ruse that he still is.

10. Trisha used to go to bandcamp with Michelle. She’s now a smokin’ hotie bartender - one whom ‘international traveler’ Finch will score with (Though Stifler’s Mom will also make a reappearance). Though the trades have only mentioned Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and Seann William Scott as returning, all the cast members from the original movie - Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Chris Klein, Jennifer Coolidge, Alyson Hannigan etc - are definitely involved.

Sounds like a lot of fun is coming!

The Spot News: Keeping the Bourne options open

By: Robert Acosta

Matt Damon has been around the block in terms of acting. But no matter he'll manage to do for the rest of his career, he'll always be remembered easily as Jason Bourne. No one could have ever imagined a Bourne movie with Damon. Well, that day is coming, and too soon if you ask me.

It isn't news that Damon won't be in the next Bourne movie, aptly titled Bourne Legacy. It certainly wasn't my idea of posting this. What was my idea was the few names that have been dropped as the successor to Damon.

The short list contains Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom), Dominic Cooper (Captain America) and Luke Evans (Tamara Drewe). Also mentioned, and only slighty, is Shia Labeouf and Taylor Kitsch.

It's not a terrible list, for some this could be a breakout role. For Labeouf, this really wouldn't be and I honestly couldn't imagine him as Bourne. He seems to be the odd man out.

My pick is between Dominic Cooper and Joel Edgerton. They both have the look and in Cooper's case, he's got some action experience...or will have some after Captain America hits.

Here is what Matt Reeves had to say:

“Well, you are going to see it – we just don’t know when [laughs],” explained Reeves. “At the moment we are talking about the story quite a lot. Drew Goddard, who wrote the original, is going to pen the sequel and J.J. Abrams is very much involved. However, the three of us have been so busy that getting the right idea together has been taking a long time.”

Will the movie be able to keep that real-time effect?

“You see, that’s a difficult part: we want it to be shot like the first but how can you continue that idea successfully for a second time?”

My Soul To Take DVD Review

My Soul To Take DVD Review

By Jose

Plot:

A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.

Main Cast:
Max Thieriot (Bug), John Magaro (Alex), Denzel Whitaker (Jerome), Zena Crey (Penelope), Nick Lash away (Brandon), Paulina Olszynski (Brittany), Jeremy Chu (Jay), Emily Meade (Fang)

Review:

In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer. Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thieriot) was supposed to die on the last night the Riverton Ripper wrecked havoc on that terrifying night. Unaware of terrifying crimes being committed to the seven children, he has been plagued by nightmares of their murders while not aware if they hold true or if he is simply imagining the images that haunt him. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that's returned, he must face an evil that won't rest until it finishes the job it began the day he was born.

Director Wes Craven really did a decent job with this movie. It is not his best work, but the movie is rather good. I liked the background myth that is hinted to throughout the movie. Of the Condor being a soul eater, or cleaner of the dead, taking in the souls into itself. The movie explains it a bit better than I did. The story is a straight forward teen-slasher movie. It sadly falls into the “run of the mill” forgotten character territory that these films love to do. Except for the couple of main characters in Bug, Alex, and Fang.

So the cast is pretty basic for the movie with all being intended to be killed in a gruesome manner. We get the asian kid, the black guy, the jock, the pretty girl, the loner, the werid girl, and the awkward main guy. I did have a problem with the black guy, Jerome. He played a blind character who seemed to be able to get around pretty damn easy. In the beginning when everyone goes home after the yearly birthday scare, he just gets up and leaves by himself. They were all in a pretty thick forest, away from the main road, and it was the middle of the night. How the hell did he manage to get out and home? Later he climbs a rope to Bug’s second floor room. Walks across the small roof overhang to the correct window, and climbs into said window. Then is able to find the closet to hide in. You sure he is supposed to be blind?
Bug was the only character I liked and actually cared for. Good thing because he is the main character. The miracle baby. He is a bit off mentally and suffers from migraines and some episodes. At one point, he switches from pain to alert and rather scary during a presentation in class. He played the lovable crazy awkward kid great. One other thing about his character is that when the other kids died he took in there thoughts and personalities. Which came off well during the movie. Made him look like he would end up being the killer.

Lots of deaths and blood. Very minimal use of CGI. Although there was one part in the film where Bug is in his bathroom and looks into the medicine cabinet mirror and sees Penelope looking back. The door to the cabinet is open a bit, and when Penelope puts her hand to the mirror it moves toward Bug. Really great visual.

Final Thoughts:

My Soul To Take was better than I was led to believe from reading other reviews. It wasn’t a Wes Craven master piece, but it was a good teen slasher film. I loved the Max Thieriot Bug character and felt bad for him ad his problems. One other problem I had is that the ending wasn’t as clear cut as I would have liked. Throughout the film Bug seemed to take on the souls of the dead teens. But when he killed the one bad soul in his friend did it go into him or did it die off? We were left hanging in a bad way. But overall I did enjoy the film.

The Spot News: Joseph Gordon-Levitt"s Role In Dark Knight Rises

So we have some news going around from Variety to now Entertainment Weekly of the role that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play in Nolan's third Batman film. First Variety reported that he snagged the role of the vengeful son of mobster Carmine Falcone, Alberto Falcone, a.k.a., Holiday or the Holiday Killer (from the acclaimed Batman comic storyline "The Long Halloween").

Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that it is false and his role has not been revealed or even locked down yet.

Weekend Box Office Numbers March 18th-20th

By: Robert Acosta
  1. Limitless   $19 Million
  2. Rango   $15.3 Million
  3. Battle: LA   $14.6 Million
  4. The Lincoln Lawyer   $13.4 Million
  5. Paul   $13.2 Million
  6. Red Riding Hood   $7.3 Million
  7. The Adjustment Bureau   $5.9 Million
  8. Mars Needs Moms   $5.3 Million
  9. Beastly   $3.3 Million
  10. Hall Pass   $2.6 Million
Another weekend gone, another weekend in the books. March is winding down, and a lot of the big movies have already been released.

It doesn't surprise me too much that Limitless takes the top spot, albeit with a weak showing. What does surprise me is the weak showing from Paul, opening at the 5th spot. Maybe I expected too much from Paul, but I was looking more towards the top 3. The fact that a Matthew McConaughey film, The Lincoln Lawyer, jumped ahead of Paul raises a red flag for me.

Next week, Sucker Punch and the sequel to Diary of a Wimpy Kid come out next week with hopefully, Sucker Punch grabbing the top spot.

The Spot News: David Slade and Comic Movies

The Spot News: David Slade to Direct New Daredevil Film

David Slade has signed up to direct a new Daredevil movie. Here are some comments from Slade himself about Daredevil and some comments about other comic book related movies in the pipeline.

    DAREDEVIL:

Forgot to look at the internet for a few weeks and its a litany of false (and not so far off) rumors. So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr Matt Murdock. It will bare [sic] no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast.

    DEADPOOL:

Love DEADPOOL, was never engaged in the (quite fantastic) script, last I heard studio was looking at comedy directors. None of my business.

    WOLVERINE:

WOLVERINE, there have been no discussions about this project to date. Interesting to see what will happen with that as the again excellent script by Chris McQuarrie was set largely in Japan. So that’s all the news that’s fit to print.

The Spot News: Friends With Benefits Trailer

    By: Robert Acosta

Earlier this year, No Strings Attached came out to some mixed, more towards positive reviews. So when you automatically hear about Friends With Benefits you think it's the same movie with different actors. I think in this case, we may be getting a much different movie, dare I say better movie.

                               Great couple in the making?

Friends With Benefits stars Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis and what seems like 2 small cameos from the hilarious Andy Samberg and Emma Stone. What could make this better is Justin Timberlake is a lot more charming than Ashton Kutcher, i'd say. Mila Kunis isn't as charming as Natalie Portman, but hotter in my opinion and maybe slightly funnier. We may have a good Romance Comedy on our hands.

    Red Riding Hood Review

    Red Riding Hood Review

    By Jose

    Plot:

Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family's displeasure.

    Review:

Valerie (Seyfried) is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village.

Before I go on I want to say that I love these fairy tales, especially Grimm’s fairy tales, which are darker and not as happily ever after compared to the cartoony versions. I felt Red Riding Hood attempted to keep that darkness while including the teen/cute cast vibe, and managed a pretty decent movie. Yes it had major flaws but it did deliver.

I will address the major flaw which was acting or lack thereof. Everyone in this movie, except a couple, basically read there lines and looked cute or read the lines and chased their checks. Except for Gary Oldman’s character (Solomon) and Max Irons (Henry) and Shiloh Fernandez (Peter). The three essentially over acted there respected parts. Or seemed like they overacted considering what I said earlier with the rest of the cast being cardboard cutouts. Irons, Oldman, and Fernandez were my favorite guys in the movie. Hell Amanda Seyfried, the main character Valerie, was “dead” in this movie. No emotion throughout the movie except for the love scenes and werewolf scenes and the rather well done end scene.

Now onto effects. The town was believable in a fantasy/medieval way. Deep scary woods and a snow covered town. The best looking piece was grandmothers house. A lone cottage, scary and cool looking, surrounded by these huge trees that had spikes growing out of them. Oh and the giant copper elephant hookah used for torture. Now the meat of the effects had to be the werewolf right? And it had better. The werewolf was all CGI and they did a really great job on it. They kept it simple. Making it an actual wolf, a rather large, dark and scary looking one. Really well done and thankfully done like this. Considering the way they could have went. I was happy with it.

I will now address the ending of the movie so if you are fearful of spoilers run away screaming now.
Throughout the movie we are left wondering to a degree who the werewolf is. There were the obvious three. Being Valerie, Peter, or Henry. At some point it became rather obvious that it would be Peter. But no it was not. The wolf turned out to be Valerie’s father. Interesting twist. A bit creepy considering an earlier conversation between the wolf and Valerie though. This choice actually caught me off guard because it felt obvious they were going with Peter being the werewolf. But it then occurred to me that Peter was supposed to play the part of the hunter.

    Final Thoughts:

I liked this movie even though it had it’s problems. Especially at the end when everything came together and followed the story. I actually liked how at the end Peter and Valerie cut open the wolf and filled him up with stones and dumped him into the lake. That was actually part of one of the original stories I had read. Also the ending itself was really well done and rather romantic. A few months or couple of years past, don’t remember, Valerie is living by herself in her grandmothers home. She goes out to her garden during a full moon to pick flowers and while she does Peter as a werewolf comes into the clearing and looks at her and bows his head while Valerie smiles at him and bows too. I found that rather romantic and heartwarming.

The Spot News: Wahlberg on Fighter 2

    By: Robert Acosta

The Fighter took the world by storm last year, and has been featured in every major (and minor) award show, constantly being praised as or near the best movie of the year. So seeing as how Mark Wahlberg has been just as praised for his role, why wouldn't he want a sequel?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wahlberg talked about the prospects of a sequel to The Fighter:

"I got bit by the bug, and now I’m trying to plant the idea in everyone’s head that we should do — not five or six Fighters like Rocky — but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we’re talking about possibly taking one more run at it.

Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to go back. But it’s still kind in the early stages."

This has been met with a lot of criticism but I gotta say, he makes a lot of sense. For any boxing fan, you know that Micky Ward's biggest fights were against Arturo Gatti. Sure, his journey to becoming a world champion is a great story, but the door was left wide open for a sequel. Now, in the last couple minutes of the film, Ward's fights with Gatti are mentioned but not shown.

Why not pursue this option? It would be a great story to tell, and since it was a trilogy of fights, it could meet the length of a full feature film.

    DVD Releases March 15th

    By: Robert Acosta

This week hosts a very slow week in March, thought they're are still a couple of things to look at this week.

    Let's get right into it:
    • The Fighter
    • Hereafter
    • The Switch
    • Yi
    • Sharktopus
    • Coach (Season 4)
So there really isn't much to choose from I know.

But you've got a real gem in The Fighter. Easily one of the best movies of 2010, it's sure to pack a punch of special features, along with the actual movie which is good enough. Some of the best peformances done by some of Hollywood's best actors and actresses.

After that, it's slim pickings. If you have Netflix or Blockbuster then taking a chance on any of these movies shouldn't matter. Though if I had to pick another movie to check out, Hereafter is the only one that comes to mind. Directed by Clint Eastwood, he has produced a lot of great movies from the directors chair and i've heard good things about Hereafter.

Weekend Box Office Numbers March 11th-13th

    By: Robert Acosta
    1. Battle: LA   $36 Million
    2. Rango   $23.1 Million
    3. Red Riding Hood   $14.1 Million
    4. The Adjustment Bureau   $11.5 Million
    5. Mars Needs Moms   $6.8 Million

    8. Just Go With It   $4 Million
    9. The King's Speech   $3.6 Million
    10. Gnomeo & Juliet   $3.5 Million
This week we saw Battle: LA, Red Riding Hood and Mars Needs Moms all make their debut this week. All have strong showings, except Mars Needs Moms. For a obvious kids flick, 3D included, it just seems like it would be a movie that would make its fair share of money.

Nothing to really comment on, everything pretty much went as planned. Battle: LA deservingly took the top spot, nearly doubling up on the runner up.

Next week we see Paul, The Lincoln Lawyer and Limitless all come out. Could Paul unseat Battle: LA for the top spot, or will LA dominate once more?

    Let Me In Review

    Let Me In Review

    By Jose

    Plot:

A bullied young boy befriends a young female vampire who lives in secrecy with her guardian.

    Review:

Let me start off by saying that I have seen the original movie, Let The Right One In, before hearing that we were getting an American remake. Normally I cringe when hearing that. Remakes usually are horrible, gutted versions of a far superior movie. But sometimes remakes get it right. In this case it was decent remake.

Let Me In essentially follows the original scene for scene, and that is not a bad thing. Unless you look at it the way I do. Then you would be saying to yourself “since this is a word for word, scene for scene remake why not just release the original here dubbed in English?”. Exactly. Why waste the money and time. But I am not an executive or producer so I don’t know what goes through their minds.

The movie is good for what it is. The interactions between the two main characters it genuine and scary at the same time. Both Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee do really well portraying the young physically yet mature lonely girl vampire and the bullied loner boy. Some scenes were cut from the original that I noticed. It seems due to pacing and overall feel. Adding those scenes would have taken away from the flow of the American version. Another thing is that there are some vampire attack scenes that were pure CGI and looked a bit cartoony. Thankfully they were brief and hidden in the dark shadows. Yet you could still tell it looked rather fake.

Now upon hearing of the remake I worried that the ending would be changed or removed due to the subject matter and gruesome deaths. I was so, so happy and surprised that they left it as is and maybe made it a bit darker. The ending is a very strong piece and the thought of the remake changing it drove me nuts. It is the perfect “revenge” on the bullies regardless of the violence and gore involved, they all deserved it for doing the things they did to Owen.

    Final Thoughts:
My worries weren’t needed due to the rather prefect America version of the original. Some things were changed that weren’t missed and thankfully the ending stood the same.

The Spot News: At The Mountains Of Madness In Danger?

The Spot News: At The Mountains Of Madness In Danger?

Filming was set to start in July 2011 under the control of director and writer Guillermo Del Toro but an interview between Del Toro and Deadline reveals that At The Mountains of Madness is at best delayed and at worst dead. The reason being that Universal can not support an expensive blockbuster ($150 million) that carries an R certificate due to its ‘intensity’.
Del Toro clearly was not to be shifted on that rating:
I think the R should be worn like a badge of merit in promoting the movie. To say, this is not a gory movie, not a movie full of profanity or violence, but it’s a really intense movie. It’s all what you do with what you’re given.

Guillermo Del Toro has had to turn his attention elsewhere. It has fallen on Pacific Rim, a science fiction movie in which humanity unites to defeat an alien menace. Pacific Rim is written by Travis Beacham (Clash and Wrath of the Titans)

The Spot News: Havok Is On Fire

The Spot News: Lucas Till as Havok In Fiery Scene For X-Men First Class

Not much going on here. It is obviously an action shot from the movie. But did Havok cause this? or is this a training exercise like in the Danger room? or something entirely different?

The Spot News: Kristen Stewart in....

    By: Robert Acosta

Kristen Stewart has never looked like a saint, whether it be the characters she plays or even outside when she's just herself. That's why I was a bit surprised when I heard she'd be playing Snow White in Snow White and The Huntsman.

Looking at it now though, the Twilight star kind of fits the role. At least in terms of "the look." Tall(ish), pale white skin color, nice beautiful eyes(I'll give her that) and at least the look of someone innocent.

Stewart joins Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen as part of the cast.

    Weekend Box Office March 4th-6th

                                                                        By: Robert Acosta

First week of March, and now I feel like movies actually matter to people. Last month I saw way too many disappointments to buy into watching good movies or feeling good about watching movies. March is the savior!

    1. Rango   $38 Million
    2. The Adjustment Bureau   $20.8 Million
    3. Beastly   $10.1 Million
    4. Hall Pass   $9 Million
    5. Gnomeo & Juliet   $6.9 Million
    6. Unknown   $6.6 Million
    7. The King's Speech   $6.5 Million
    8. Just Go With It   $6.5 Million
    9. I am Number Four   $5.7 Million
    10. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never   $4.3 Million
It doesn't surprise me that Rango took the top spot this week. What with the kid's inflation (You know, families bringing kids and maybe even friends of the kids) and the lack of 3D may have brought families out even more.

The Adjustment Bureau and Beastly round out the top 3 this week and the lack of Take Me Home Tonight in the top 10 doesn't surprise me.

Next week, Battle: LA comes out, along with Mars Needs Moms and Red Riding Hood. Almost sure Battle: LA takes it next week.

      The Spot News: Red Skull

The Spot News: Red Skull fully revealed

Here is a fully revealed look at the Red Skull played by Hugo Weaving for The Captain America movie. I have to say it looks really great. Better than what I had thought and a lot better than the blurry trailer picture has shown us.
